Overtime your teeth can get stained or discolored for a variety of reasons; either because of certain food and drinks, tobacco use, age, trauma or medications. One of the top things that consumers say they would want to change about their smile is to have their teeth be whiter.

The process is a simple method and essentially is consists of a tooth bleach breaking the stains on your teeth which makes the color less concentrated and your smile brighter. There are two whitening methods:

In-Office Teeth Whitening

An in office teeth whitening service can usually be accomplished in one office visit. It is sometimes referred to as chair side bleaching. The dentist  will apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect your gums. The bleach is then applied to the teeth and depending on the treatment a laser can be used to enhance the whitening agent.

In-Home Teeth Whitening

There are trays that patients are given to apply at home. There is a gel and you place it into a tray and then for a certain period of time the tray is used on your teeth. The whitening gel that contains peroxide cleaning agents actually bleach the teeth to get a whiter and brighter smile. This method does contain a lower concentration of the bleaching agent so it will be a longer process
